Get Well Soon Flowers

Whether you’re in hospital or at home and are barely well enough to get out of bed, a bright flower bouquet can lift just about anyone’s mood. You don’t necessarily need flowers either – giving anything positive can be a friendly gesture. If you have something of sentimental value, bringing it to your sick family or friend can be the ultimate gesture of love and care.

What Features should I look for in a ‘Get Well Soon’ Bouquet?

Basically, you’ll want anything uplifting and bright. However, the most important feature of the flower species you give will no doubt be longevity. The bouquet or floral arrangement you bring will most likely be sitting bedside or somewhere within view of the person for days, weeks or months. It will become more depressing to watch them slowly wilt and rot away in front of them and will not be very pleasant.

Which flowers are long lasting and appropriate?

The following are some of the most popular and common long-living flowers you can find at just about any florist:
A bouquet of red Anthurium

  • The Orchid: A unique and vibrant flower which comes in an abundance of colors and patterns. The head seed is distinct and easily recognisable. Traditionally a flower of purity and the innocence. Pictured top right.
  • The Anthurium: An interesting flower which feels almost rubbery to the touch. The tough texture still remains pleasant to the eyes, and can last almost 2 months with proper care and management. Pictured bottom right.
  • A pot-plant of pink orchids

  • The Sunflower: One of the most recognised flowers on earth. Huge yellow and gold petals signify warmth and vibrance, and are known to bring out sentimental emotions.
  • The Bird of Paradise: A fascinating flower which can be gazed at for ages in wonder. Rightfully named, as the head and petals resemble an exotic beautiful bird.
  • The Florist’s Choice: Your florist should be an expert on flower arrangements, so tell them your situation and who they are for, and they should whip you up a custom-made bouquet or hamper to best suit your unwell friend.

Get Well Soon Bears and Balloons

Don’t have time to change flowers which even last up to a month? Balloons have a much longer ’shelf-life’, whilst teddy bears will last forever. They can also grow in sentimental value to the unwell person and will always remind them of how you helped and cared for them.
