Chips - More commonly added to a food hamper, potato chips are an enticing and delicious addition to a gift hamper.
Fruit - Fruit is generally only given if the whole hamper is an assortment of fruits, i.e a fruit hamper. Fresh fruit is fantastic, but similar to flowers you’ll need to take into account how long they will keep for.

Toiletries - Don’t be surprised to find Scented bath oils, mini-shampoo and conditioners, soaps and moisturising creams in a hamper. If you don’t want them, it won’t be hard to find someone who does!
Meat - RSL clubs and functions often have raffles and draws to win meat, from rump steaks to giant legs of ham.

For charity, a food hamper is often donated to the needy. Apart from these three well-known hampers, there’s basically no guidelines as to what you can add to a hamper, and how much.
