I’m Sorry Flowers
Messed up in your relationship? Whether it’s family or friend, personal or romantic, a bouquet of flowers combined with a pleading face for forgiveness can be hard to refuse. Sometimes it’s hard to swallow your pride and say you’re sorry, so why not let the flowers do the talking? On the other hand, sometimes words simply won’t cut it alone.
What are the best ‘apology flowers?
Before going with the general trend and tradition, do you already know the recipients favourite type of flower? If so, this should definitely be your first choice.
If you have no idea, or none of the person’s friends or family know what they like, try going for these:
- A Single Red Rose: On a budget? If so, that’s convenient as one rose traditionally says “I Love You”. If you’re afraid she or he will think you’re stingy, amp it up to a dozen roses.
- Violet Hyacinth: Plain and simple – you want to say “I am Sorry?’ Look no further than Hyacinths, particularly purple and violet ones. Pictured right.
- Gloxinia: Is there doubt in your relationship? Reinforce your love with gloxinia, renowned for conveying ‘Love at First Sight’. Pictured right.
There are some flowers however, you should watch out for. Ultimately, any flower which looks remarkably beautiful and colorful will be adored. However, even the most innocent looking of flowers are known to secretly harbor negative messages. An example is:
- Snapdragons: The last thing you want to tell the person you’ve hurt is that you’re ‘insincere’ and ‘deceitful’. Avoid these along with bright carnations (strange, but true) if you don’t want to leave a bad impression.
- Deadly Nightshade: If the name isn’t a giveaway as something inappropriate, the symbolism sure is. Implies lies and dishonesty.
What If I can’t deliver them personally?
In general, for maximum effect you’ll want to deliver the flowers in person. In can be seen as an impersonal gesture to simply have them delivered. However, sometimes you physically won’t be able to, or you can find a scenario where it will work perfectly. If you reckon you lack the creativity yourself, speak with your florist – they tend to have years of experience in cases like yours and will be more than able and willing to lend you a hand in creating the perfect apology bouquet.
