Love and Romantic Flowers

If you need to impress your partner out of the blue, or have a special occasion which mutually means a lot to you, fresh flower can really ignite a romantic passionate spark between you.

What type of flower is seen as romantic or loving?

Sentimentality should come first before tradition. If there’s a flower which means a lot to your partner, go for that one first. For example, while Frangipanis aren’t a traditional romantic flower, many girls adore the smell and highly appreciate them. If there isn’t a flower you know or can think of which your partner would like, you can’t fail with pink and red flowers, particularly roses. If this is one of the first times you are giving or sending flowers, don’t look past a dozen fresh red roses – the iconic romantic gesture.

The best flowers for romance

A vase with 11 red roses and 1 yellow rose, symbolising romance, love and passion

1. Roses

Plain and simple. Some say they are unoriginal, but they truly are stunning, pleasant smelling and the ideal symbolism for love and romance. If you are getting twelve roses, try throwing in one yellow rose, it can really stand out and has the extra symbol of passion infused. As pictured right, it’s truly as eye catching spectacle.

2. Iris

Are you a confident lad with your relationship? Perhaps you’d like to reinforce it with Iris, a symbol of wisdom and confidence. A stunning flower with large delicate petals. However, possibly more appropriate for a close friend or family, as it can also be interpreted as friendship. Some florists specialise in single, large Iris flowers which can also be a sight to be hold, matching the power of even a bouquet.  A vase of purple iris pictured right.

Tulips are seen as the epitome of romance over roses to some.

3. Tulips

For such a delicate and colorful flower head, it’s surprising to know that the Tulip primarily grows in an icy climate. Symbolic of warding evil and affection – so much so that ancient cultures would wear Tulip’s on their body to guard against malevolent spirits. Mix and match with roses for an even stronger affect. Pictured right are fresh tulips with a pink and purple hue.

4. Carnations

Some florists associate certain coloured and patterned Carnations with negative and angry emotions, while others see them as simple to manage and gorgeous to gaze at. Carnations grow rapidly and have an open bloom for a long time.

Chocolates are an Aphrodisiac!

You don’t necessarily have to limit the romantic gifts to your partner to flowers and floral arrangements. If you want to stir some passion and romance, tempt him or her with some chocolates – a florist will commonly have high-quality gourmet chocolate at hand as an extra to upsale your order.
