Silk Flowers
Silk flowers have countless advantages and benefits over natural flowers, however it’s hard to deny the beauty and appeal or using the real thing.
Silk flowers aren’t the only material used in manufacturing artificial flowers – other materials include glass, polyester, soap, plastic, paper and even clay. Below we’ll toss up the advantages of silk flower arrangements vs traditional bouquets.
Advantages of Silk Flowers
- They will never wither or die. Unless you have a servant or money to blow on replacing fresh flowers every several days to keep them fresh, if you want to display flowers around your home permanently, artificial silk flowers are ideal.
- They won’t cause a mess. You wouldn’t think of flowers as something to cause a mess, but you’d be surprised. Leaves will crumple and fall off, they can attract (or carry) insects, and pollen can potentially stain clothes and cause allergies.
- Low maintenance. If you’re not one to take care of your garden and plants religiously or at least consistently, artificial silk flowers may be a much wiser choice.
- They are cheaper in the long run. One batch of silk flowers will be more expensive than a batch of genuine flowers, but the real ones will have to be replaced whereas the artificial will live on forever.
Disadvantages of Silk Flowers
- The fragrance of real flowers can not be matched. While some silk flowers can be artificially scented, they are no where near as pleasant to smell nor do they last as long.
- They will always be lacking visually in comparison. Some silk flowers can look stunning. However if you look twice, or compare them to the real thing, there will always be something lacking.
As they won’t change in appearance and can’t smudge your clothing, silk flowers are ideal for weddings and bridal bouquets – if you can pull them off perfectly. Since you’ll be after the highest detail possible, you’ll pay shelling out more cash than you would on a standard wedding bouquet or arrangement.
